Sorry for the g@y title, g/f thought of it. Anyways I needed a way to get into those remote camping locations. My t-bird just can't cut it. Decided 2 days ago to check the local buy sell. Found this add for a 1988 Chevy Blazer S-10 style, 4x4, 2.8L auto. It doesn't run because the carb needs a rebuild. I will rebuild it and see if it runs. The guy says it will, but we'll see. If it doesn't work out, I have a 350 that I can put into it. I don't know anything about these things though. Don't know if the stock ****** can take a small block, or if the transfer case will bolt up to a TH350. Time to learn about that type of stuff. For $400 it's going to be a good start though. If anyone knows any good blazer forums, let me know. Pics.

Ooh, ouch. 2.8l ftl... Might as well keep it and save a little money as long as it runs, right?

I'd say if the bdy is solid and the 4wd still works it's a hella deal!

Already joined, but they don't seem to do much regarding 4x4's and small block swaps. I have been reading S-10 forums and am getting a better understanding on what is involved. Not quite as much work as I was thinking, but still more to read about.

theres something like a offroad forum that I had found awhile ago in a google search that once in it, they broke it done into the models etc and was alot of info on it. I cant look now but if I get home early tonight I will see if I can come across it.

my wife's cousin is a big blazer addict and that is all he does is swap motors 2.8 out and small block 350 in can ask him some questions on stuff if u need help?

I have a book handy re the swap and there is also lots of info on the net. I think I pretty much understand what all is involved. If I need something, I'll let ya know thanks.

no the small blcok wont bolt up to it.

If it has the 4.3 it owuld.

To put the small block v8 into that machine you need almost the complete 4.3 blazer running gear (******,transfercase and ushc)

also i thoguth they were a 3.8 v6.. i thoguht the 2 optison weere 3.8 or a 4.3

Yea it's a 2.8. Luckily all I need is a new ****** from either a full size 4x4 or 4.3 blazer. I think I found 1 cheap at the wreckers from a 4.3. I can still use the same transfer case/drive shafts. Only other major changes are corvette rad and exhaust.

a small block v8 in that blazer will be nice man. could easily turn into a cheap nice ride.
