Better than A CVR

Alright guys. Here is the deal. I currently have one 12" 2005 Kicker CVR in a 2.0cf (after displacement) ported box tuned to 34 hz powered by a BX1000D at 2 ohms. It sounds good to be and gets loud, but it is my first system and I am just itching for more. Im sure you all know what I am talking about.

Anyway, I am a poor college student and don't have the money to throw into a sub like a RL-P or SX. I am looking to get my system louder. I personally enjoy the way my CVR sounds, which I guess leads me to believe SQ isn't a huge thing for me...

I am not going to be competing. Again, this is going to be a daily driver only system. I listen to all rap and hip-hop if that matters. Are there any subs out there that are not rediculously expensive that would get more musically loud than my cvr does off of a bx1000d?

Thank you.

Also, would I be better of just getting another CVR and doing a dual ported trunk system?

i have a set of swiss audio spl1290's that absolutely crush cvr's man. they are dual 4 ohm so you could run em at 1 ohm with that amp. i had them in a ported box 3.5cf@35 htz and they absolutely pounded!! $150 shipped. pics and refs available

Anyone else know anything about these subs?

You'll be hard pressed to find a sub that overall outperforms the OZ ME in that price range.
That ends up being $196.00 shipped. Thats already getting into the price range that I could get some good used subs at. I am really looking cheaper than that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

type-r power
Would one 12" R really outshine a CVR THAT much? (im afraid of the forum boner)

i don't know of anyone else that runs these on this board but i assure you man that they were very better sounding and louder than the jl Audio W3's i had before them and much louder than the w6's i had previously altho the w6's were somewhat more sq oriented.

Id get another cvr for sure..
Add another CVR. Doubling your cone area and power
I was going to, but then Spkrman started saying how 2 12"s and a box big enough for them wouldn't help at all for a trunk system. He said that it would be starving the air space or something. Other people seemed to agree and said that a single 12" is the best option for a trunk... I was just kinda going with that.

Whats the real deal fellas?

yea get 2 12's, or a 15"cvr
NOTE: I cannot fit 15s in my trunk

Ive had 4 of the cvr 12"s in my trunked acura and was very happy...that dude seems to think that he is the lord of competition/enclosure design for some reason?

From my point of view simpy adding another 12 and building another box seems like less of a hassle than selling the sub, finding something that'll work with the $ you have to spend, getting the sub, building a box, and possibly being disappointed.

Why on earth does he think he is GOD of car audio. When I installed my second HX2 in my car the increase in output was extreme.
Adding the second one will give you greater output...
dude, hes built some boxes, has tested a few trucked cars, and owns a tl...of coarse he knows everything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

*sells mt's and buys type r's*

sorry to get off-topic..

im thinking he was referring to mic only and he even said that it would still sound louder to the ear with 2 rather than just one 12, but having a small box for only one 12 just allows for more air travel and one loud sub would have a better chance than two because you would run into cancellation and choking off of bass freqs from the trunk with a wide box.

that was my understanding.. but regardless.. you will obviously see a gain with another CVR and double power. do that. inhuman acura is right its easier to just add another with a new box rather than worrying about selling the one you have and matching somethin new to your budget and amp.

cvrs get nice and loud for the $ .. stick to em and enjoy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
