Best Wire/Value for dollar

your dad? lol. I was working construction for 3 years before you were legally able to assuming you even do which I doubt. And knowledge of any kind was not passed through your daddys sperm so I have a hard time seeing how your dad doing anything has anything to do with your knowledge... anyways .. Electrons move down a wire along the outer circumference of the conductor. (like polarity repels each other, think magnet) the more strands in a conductor the more electrons can flow more easily. (more amps) therefore, multistranded wire is not only more flexible, but technically can carry more current. But I don't remember how it affects the wire size calculation with the difference between stranded and solid wire.
Strand count has nothing to do with DC current flow. It's all about the cross sectional area of copper.

That said, I'm not gonna get in a pissing match with somebody who has an inflated ego, so you win. If you think strand count is gonna make a difference then go ahead & shell out money for car audio wire.

Tell me why the guys doing this for a living. Owning their own shops, settign world records are usuing high stranded car audio wire and not 2/0 12 stranded welding cable? I go to usac and meca world finals and to tell you the truth the people actually competing I rarely EVER see welding wire. So you tell me if its so much better why would people that put in thousands of hours a year into being loud not use it? and we are supposed to believe someone who doesnt even have a system BUT... their daddy is an electrician.. please donate something useful or just leave. Ithink you like to argue more then post useful info which you seem to have a lack of

Im not saying I know everyting about any subject. You can always learn more.. but sitting at your computer reading articles does not trump installing numerous systems and test test test test on a term lab day in day out. because numbers dont lie

if the current only travels on the outside layer why don't they just use thin polycarb or monofilament like fishing line and coat it with copper or Aluminum?

serious ? here since I was an apprentice electrician for a couple years and never heard of that...other than when people discuss car audio wire..

I disagree.
Its rated for 250 amps and thats plenty for me anyways lol

Im just stating what I have been taught by My Gpa who has been an electrician for factories and navy ships since before most of the people on this forum where born lol

First: 2/0 weld wire comes in alot higher strand count than 12.

Second: I have a system.

Third: my dad is an electrical engineer w/ an MBA & 25 years in the field..... I'll take his knowledge over yours any day. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Fourth: using car audio wire over welding cable might have something to do with sponsorship. Why spend thousands of dollars on welding cable when you can get sponsored. Also.... car audio cables are not true AWG wire, they are oversized...thus 1/0 car audio is bigger than 1/0 weld wire (which is true AWG), & that means a higher current capacity. It has absolutely nothing to do with strand count. All that does is makes the wire more flexible. Again.......

Strand count has nothing to do with DC current flow. It's all about the cross sectional area of copper.

Your argument was that car audio wire has a higher current capacity than weld wire because of a higher strand count. And guess what: you are wrong, again.
