Why give someone advice on a subwoofer that isnt even readily available? I searched for over 3 months for two SI BMK 12's. Not one popped upSI BM mkIII nothing on the market comes close, maybe the jl but not even
he asked whats the best. he didnt ask, whats the best thats currently available? Why give someone advice on a subwoofer that isnt even readily available? I searched for over 3 months for two SI BMK 12's. Not one popped up
in your experience... but u havent heard every shallow sub have ya?i didn't say JL was the best sub... i was referring to shallow mount subs. in my experience they sound the best of the other shallows. i don't have any JL's but i would gladly take some W7's....
winisd says .5 cubic foot, si bm mk on 450 watts, alpine shallow 12 on 600 watts .5 box, the alpine isnt louder until ~60hz. plus the si bm mk will sound better right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifIf you want the highest displacement (loudest) shallow mount out there, the Alpine is it. The Alpine has 15mm of actual Xmax which has been verified via Klippel testing, and it also carries a pretty linear suspension (Kms) curve with it as well. While some people may think "so what if it has more stroke?" Well, in a sealed box stroke is king for being loud. A lot of the other shallow mounts listed as other choices have roughly half the linear excursion as the Alpine. Half the linear stroke means it will be ~3dB quieter, which means that you will need to purchase two of them to equal the output from the single Alpine Type R shallow. So if you're dead set on buying two subwoofers you're going to pay the same amount for two subwoofers as the one Alpine, make a box for two 12's that's twice the size as what the Alpine needs so the materials will cost more, and the overall sub system might be as loud without the low end extension that the Alpine will provide. Other than our BM mkIII shallow subs that were available late last year, the Alpine is next in line as far as LFE is concerned. It plays considerably lower than the other shallow subs in this poll/thread. Playing lower, playing louder, handling more power, requiring a smaller enclosure, etc, all add up to a better value.
Without so much as an ETA on the SI's, I am leaning heavaly towards the Alpine, for several reasons stated above, and that I'm just going nuts without my bass!!!!!winisd says .5 cubic foot, si bm mk on 450 watts, alpine shallow 12 on 600 watts .5 box, the alpine isnt louder until ~60hz. plus the si bm mk will sound better right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
