Best Buy Installation

I installed at best buy for 4 years and met many very competent installers.
Hell there are 3 Best buy installer nominated for installer of the year..

People on this site love to just type out shit they read with no prior knowledge or experience.

I can guarantee that 50% of best buy installers are better than most of the people here who decide to do it themselves.

Honestly go talk to the installers, and make a logical decision if you think they are competent enough to complete your work.
thats funny, i was just make'n fun of this dumbass kid who calls him self an installer at best buy off 635. what a tool... im not going to get into detail but i wish i would have had a recorder with me... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

It certainly doesn't mean they DO have those skill sets. We could assume they know how to fly a helicopter to, or perform brain surgery. Just because their job doesn't require it doesn't mean they can't, right?
have you had a bad experience with mainstream install shops like circuit city cause you come across very negative like all best buy and circuit city installers **** from what ive read, i may be wrong but thats just my 2 cents from your post like working at a small shop is a right to passage to be a good installer. i worked for hi-fi buys (tweeter) for a few year before going out of business, which was a retail store and we put out better installs then most small custom shops period.

Ive already explained my experience with BB installers. And no, Im not suggesting you MUST work for a small shop in order to build good skills. I think I made it perfectly clear earlier that there are exceptions to the rule... but if you guys think you are gonna convince me that BB and CC are full of top-notch installers, well you are trying to piss up the wrong tree. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I think you are thinking way too deep into what I posted earlier. Your basically saying I should not think some BB installers can build boxes. Its not really a question because I know many that can.. and also... People should not assume best-buy is full of crappy installers.
No, that's not basically what Im saying. I find it odd you say IM reading way too much into your words, then YOU go on to extrapolate out what Ive said to try and skew my point.

I have worked in the bay for 3 yrs. I have another job so this is there for me to hone my skills and get paid for enjoying a great hobby. I have lobbied my managers for custom work but there is no market for it where I work. I have had a chance to move to a mom and pop store but the guaranteed work/pay is not worth giving up. I think we do some good work, hadn't had a damage claim in over a year! We have an advanced MECP installer going for his Masters certificate. The other 2 guys are basic- I hate it. I fought getting certified because I believe it has lost it's luster. I worked in another bay, there was a kid that bragged about getting his certification- I told that was great, but I had to teach him how to take apart a dash so I will take experience over certification any day. I get worked up over this because we do good work, had to fix many "specialty" shops stuff as well as other Bays work. It's all hit or miss do your homework, talk to the installers and make a judgment call.

To be fair, MECP certification should not mean you are expected to know how to take apart every vehicle's dash, door panels or interior in general. That's not what MECP training teaches you.

No, taking your ride to a mom n pop shop is no guarantee of a good install either. But, I also dont think anyone has claimed that.
