Best Buy Installation

so why doesnt every1 just go to best buy then? i understand a shop would know what they are doing a little better but still.. im sure best buy installers know what they are doing also
best buy employee are most often community college dropouts who don't know jack shiit about car audio IMO.

yes there usually mecp basic certified. only thing i would go there for is a head unit install.
MECP cert doesn't mean jack these days... I know a few people who are MECP cert and think Caps are Hail Marys

Wires ran in spots they shouldnt be, grounds not connected properly etc. These things will make installs work at first, but will eventually cause damage to parts of your system and cause them not to work.
The only way a wire run in the wrong spot would mess up is if gravel hit it... and even then it'd still work fine for quite some time... but, odds are BB won't be THAT dumb. And normally, when something isn't grounded properly, it just doesn't work... Period.

i have had a full system installed there before it was perfectly fine if u want a simple setup. there reliable for headunits:rolleyes:
There are some BB shops who take pride in their work and don't do crappy work. Normally the managers of these shops are into CA. (I believe there's someone on this forum who's a manager of a BB install shop). It's kinda of a Russian Roulette deal... it could be good, but it could be bad.

I still say do it yourself.

The only thing you can possibly do wrong is blow a fuse...

ANY shop can mess up any car

a local shop here has messed up MANY cars.

I think some people just love to be sheep and follow what other people say

btw did you know that FI is the best thing ever!!??!?!??

Best buy installs tend not to last and look horrible and they do not care about anything other than getting it to turn on until you leave there shop.

ummm OK? Essplain how that is possible? I suppose all of the connections just fall apart after the work expires as dated on the receipt?

Ive seen the best buy here run power, and RCA and Remote along the same spot zip tied together and to me that is installing wires wrong, also mounting grounds in insecure spots where a few minutes of vibration (from system and regular driving) has shaken a ground loose. Some bestbuys probably do some good work, but I have rarely heard good things about work done from them. Just my opinion on them

Have also seen bad crimps on terminals, screws not securely tightened, many factors that can apply.

Google Best Buy car audio installs or something along those lines. The learning curve is steep my friend.

Do you know if this FI place has a website?

c'mon.. Installing a deck isn't exactly splitting atoms here. Amp oooooh I bet with an hour training, I can have my daughter running wires WOW oooh ooh oooh plugging in a prefab box. No wait, I may need some special training there

lol its really not that hard to do it your self i did all mine and its been working fine for the last 3yr's and i knew nothing but thanks to you guys ive learned

No system is just going to just stop working unles there is a loose wire or you drive through the tracks over time and things loosen up. Chances of that happenning are slim to none.
