Best Buy: Are you sh!tting me?

when you buy via internet non authorized you are buying a product that the maker of that product doesnt even want them to sell . . ..
I am not at all convinced that is really the case. I am not saying that I know one way or another, but I do wonder about this in light of the steady inventory the online sellers have.

I'd never buy from a local sotre...ever. The warranty means nothing to me, as I have owned 100+ car audio things(be it subs/amps/speakers/HUs/etc.), and I have only had ONE thing fail on me, which was an Xtant amp that I ran at 1ohm for 3 years, even though it wasn't rated for it....so it was my fault anyways.

Warranties are good for people who have no idea what they're doing, have no audio knowledge, and have been prone to fvcking things up. But even when they do fvck it up, will the manufacturer's warranty cover it? Probably not if it was user error, which is the case 95% of the time.

At basically any online store, if the products comes to you defective, they'll replace it. Do those online stores carry warranties? Yes, some carry 1 year warranties and such. Will I ever need to use it? More than likely, not.

then in a few years you guys will be wondering wtf happened to car audio...why is the same level deck that you paid 230 for then more likely cost 300+. not only that but i would venture to say the variety of products you have to choose from will also shrink..

I respect your opinion and I wish that my local dealers were as knowledgeable about car audio as I believe you are. However, "taking one for the team" and the prospect of warranties is just not enough. In my case at least, it is up to the dealer to earn my business through service. The retailer can either listen to the consumer or die on the vine.

I am responsible for keeping my business open and I have to make adjustments all the time in order to do so. The audio retailer is going to have to do the same.

i dont think it is based much on opinion as it is reality. a dealer cant sell for 10% over cost to pay for employees, rent, heat and so forth.

as a former owner of a distributorship and as a former manufacturers rep when the small shops all close up there will be no need for a distributor. the volume of product they and large chain stores buy makes it possible for the price to be lower. when that venue is gone (transhippers) the price will go up..........also for the past 10-15 years the car audio market has been shrinking

Well, it's too bad that local dealers still seem to conduct their business as if the consumer has no choice about where to buy. I guess when they lock the doors for the last time they will still be blaming greedy consumers and online sellers when, in my opinion, the answer was right before them.

Went up to Best Buy yesterday out of boredom to check out the 9885, and while I was there I was laughing at their prices.
$250 for a set of Type-R components

$230 for a Type-R 12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

$130 for a RockFord 4-gauge wiring kit

There were a few others, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
authorized stuff from a retailer....marked at retail? Who would have thought it!

Authorized stuff from a retailer....costing more than some stolen shit on ebay? No way!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

if you want to take what happened to car audio and apply it to food, clothes and even cars we would all be walking around *****, starving or farming our own little gardens...lol without the sellers being able to make money there is no market to start from period

Because we don't laugh at their prices, we laugh at their at inability to have any knowledge of car audio, and their shitty service.
Not every store will have crappy service, or people that arent familiar with the products. For instance at the shop, their are several educated employees. So speak for your local cc, or bb, not world wide.. thanks

Obviously I disagree. Retailers can either adapt (as we all must do in business) and stay in business or they can remain hardheaded, continue to blame others and go fill out an application at BB.
