Best 12" subwoofer possible?

I want the best 12" sub I can get. I want VERY good sq with spl to boot.

I am leaning towards the Re audio XXX.

My budget is $1000

The XXX is a nice'un. You can get one for WAY less than $1k.

I'm going to be honest, though. There's no way to say which sub is the absolute best. The XXX will give you good results if you use the proper enclosure and power, but it can easily be outperformed in certain aspects by many subs.

That depends on your car, the box, how much power you have and the condition of your electrical system.

Sure you can spend $1000 on a sub but it ain't gonna do you any good if it's not set up properly.

RE XXX 12" in a huge sealed enclosure with adequate power (2k-2.5k) and an electrical to back it up, deadening everywhere, etc. Would sound nice.

But like said, there are a million different ways to accomplish the same goal in this hobby.

There is no perfect sub. Subs are a compromise. Do you want High Sensitivity with no low end? Do you want low sensitivity with low end? Do you want something in the middle? If there was a best sub or perfect sub, we would all just run that one and there would be no other brands except pyle and lanzar for the skanks.
