Battery Terminals

Could someone tell me what a battery terminal does, and would I need one. I was reading the Big 3 thread and someone said that one is required to do the big 3. I thought I could just connect the wire using a ring terminal on to the battery;

that's fine... The battery terminals people speak of for car audio have multiple terminal ends to connect multiple wires to.

You can use the stock battery connection like you were planning.
