distorted noise + blowing sub= why??

im getting a distorded noise from the subs and the subs are also going with out any music on like its blowing out air and making like a poping noise. i just installed a second amp to have 2 amps + 4 12" subs...i hooked the amp that was in there already to the new subs and they work fine but when i wire them to the amp i just installed they make that noise. whys is that? im guessing its from the amp...thanks for your help in advance

Most likely it is a bad amp. If you have a "subsonic" filter adjustment on the amp then try to adjust it and see if that helps.
