battery swelling or is this normal?

I got a duracell agm group 34 last week from Sam's and decided to redo my big 3 and put some new terminals with the New batt. Well for better space I mounted the batt on it side, well I took a look under the hood tonight and it seems that the batt is swelling on the sides only. Is this normal cause is mounted on its sides. I have a excessive amprage 300 alt and seems to stay between 14 to 14.6 I don't believe is over charging. For some reason I can't upload from this phone but is about 1/4 to 5/16 swollen out.

Il take it back for a replacement. What causes swelling in batts bad cells, overcharging? Just want to make sure it's not something I did so it won't happen again.

It's like a week old batt . What is consider over charging.
I'd say up to 15v is fine. 15.3 is iffy, and I wouldn't want anything over that for too long. My singer 320 occasionally spikes up to 16v if I increase RPM quickly

It shouldn't swell. Take it back to sam clubs
Yeah, even with batteries there should be a minimum of 30 days free replacement.

We have a 5 year pro-rated warranty at Mr. Battery with one year free replacement for consumer vehicles

Do you have a battery charger at home that you put it on?

One of my co-workers was charging a battery up for someone and put it on 200 amps, then walked away and forgot about it. When I came out in the shop, it was pouring steam and swelled up, lol

No charger at all its been in for a week with the 300 alt. I went back outside and put a staight edge on it and measured about a 1/4 on each side of the bulge. It's only in its sides I looked all over it. Its a agm battery so it should be able to be mounted on its side right?

i dont think its an issue.. my duracell agm is like that. my deka 55ah from mike is like that too.
How old are your batts though? This one is a week old. I thought batteries started swelling after a longer period of use?

Batteries shouldn't swell period. No matter their age. I've seen them swell before and it's not good.

I think the better question would be what's causing it to swell? Needs water? Electrical wiring isn't up to par? Could be something inside the battery itself wrong...who knows.

Now that @adulbrich is a battery guy now, perhaps he can shed some light on the subject.
