Battery light coming on.

What's up guys. Last week I started my escape and noticed the battery light was on. Turned the car off then back on and it stayed off. Didn't think much of it. This morning it was on again then went off, came on for a sec and back off. I have a voltage meter and it was reading 14.3-14.4

Big 3, mechman 270A alt and XS D4800 is what I currently have. What could cause the light to come on ? Does not stay on, just on for a sec or two and off.

Had that same thing happen to me once. Not sure if this is your prob, but it was a sign of my alternator going bad. Changed it out and end of prob. Could be something as simple as making sure battery wiring is tight

Could be a bad alternator...Do you have your stock alternator that you can try replacing to see if it does properly as a temporary fix ? It could also give you a process of elimination point ...because if it still comes on you can start checking elsewhere...but that would be the first piece since its the heart of the system...

I do have my factory alt. this mechman is fairly new under a year old, probably 6 months old. Battery is about a year old. Going to get it load tested right after work. I'll check everything over also, I hope it's something stupid.

Autozone and most autoparts stores will check your Alternator for free ...Hopefully it will be an easy fix ....if the lights coming on ...its usually because of too little or too much ...if you have an adjustable voltage regulator you may want to try turning it down just a little...and testing

Would make sence being to much. Was 50's this morning so most mornings it throws more power out compared to 80 degree mornings

But not much. Maybe .2-.3 more.

On a bigger system you may want to try an amp meter ...they basically clamp around your power wire with a sensor like a clamp meter so you can track your amperage ...I always wire an extra volt meter to read off the extra batteries or amplifiers in bigger systems ...You can use a 2 or 3 way toggle switch to change the sensing lead among multiple amps or batteries as well...
