battery HELP

i currently have a optima yellow top under the hood as a primary battery my question is. is it ok to connect 2 xs power xp3000 or d3100 in the back with the optima they all 12v but i think the optima rest in 14. something volts and the xs power rests in 12. something volts can that be a problem both batteries resting in different voltage ???????????

Your optima rests at 12v. The alternator charges it to 14v

can't you just install one of those battery isolater deals and not worry about it discharging anything

with an isolator I don't think it would matter what kind/type you mixed but if I where you I would just match brands and size but that's me.

To be honest I don't recommend mixing batteries brands because there are a lot of variables. But as mentioned above with proper isolation the XS batteries in the back will be unable charge or discharge the yellow top due to voltage fluctuation. Keep in mind however that by adding multiple extra batteries you are putting more strain on the alternator when the vehicle is running if the batteries have had substantial time to loose their charge, if you need more power, in a manner that calls for this many batteries of this size, I would really start with the alternator
