Back battery wiring question

Do I have to have a ground run from my front battery to my back battery? Or can I just ground the back battery to the same spot I ground my amp to? Last time I tried to, I just grounded the back battery to the same place my amp was, and it smoked. I didnt know what the problem was, but I forgot to reconnect to front battery ground. once I did that it didnt smoke. Maybe it was because I had already partially blown the amp? I just got a new amp and I just want to make one power run from the front battery to the back battery and ground the back batteyr sperately. I really dont want to smoke this amp

you ground it to the same place as your amp. well it doesn't have to be but it can.

but you don't run your ground from your front to the same as your back batt.

imo, the way to do it is with a run of 1/0 gauge (or more than one) connecting your front and rear batt's negatives instead of going through the crappy chassis

i have only seen an improvement in running a seperate ground from front to back in really serious systems.

i picked up 55 ft of welding cable on ebay and it's supposed to come in next week, after i use it, i'll sell it to ya.

i'm only using maybe 30 of that 55.

thanks but im about to go buy some localy at a shop for 4.50 a foot. I just wanted to make sure I can hook it up this way and not smoke my amp.

I would run your amp's ground directly to the rear battery's negative and then ground the rear batt's negative to the chassis if youre doing it that way

Yep

It's essentially doing the exact same thing except you'd want the amp being directly connected to that rear batt instead of grounding to it through the chassis grounding point.

yes.

*this is what i meant im doing. im doing both of my amps power wire to my rear pos bat, and both of my amps ground to my rear neg bat and just grounding the rear neg batt.

also, how should I wire a my dual 2 ohm sub to 2 ohm? I dont get it and i dont think its on crutchfield
