Atomic 5000.1 Help

the only thing I can say from going from the AT5k to the 7ks is voltage I never got the most of the 7ks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I think that your gains need to be set as the amp is rated. If its rated for 5000 watts at 1 ohm I think that gains should be set to 70.7 volts no matter if you have a 1 ohm or 2 ohm load on it. If im wrong then I'm sorry but that is how i normally set mine and ive never had an issue. good luck.

There are many differences in the way you set them up, the tutorial is a good rule of thumb in the amp section on this forum and is a good starting point. Im into mainly spl in which a little distortion is good because it helps the numbers. Plus some amps have tricks to them where you can set them up to get the most out of them but it takes alot of testing to find them. Ive used the Ats for about 3-4 years now and they are all pretty similar on how you set them up. Dont forget that just because you have a 1ohm load on your subs, using this as an example, that your amp is seeing 1ohm load because its not because of rise. Most people like myself try to get to that 1ohm reactive load to get the most out of the amp, most reputable (sp) buildhouses test there amps at the reactive load at the voltage they list. Personally for me it was .375ohm to 1 amp to come very close to that 1ohm load. Many times people by a 1ohm amp and buy a dual 2ohm sub thinking there getting the most power out of the amp in which they arnt because of rise. Rise is the devil!!!!

So are you saying to run these kind of amps between .375 and .5 for the most power??? Is this ok for daily?

For the ATs .375ohm for burps and .5 ohm daily, some people say .25ohm for burps but everytime I tried it, it always went into protect even with different types of boxes and tube enclosures. If someone was really cautious Id go for .5ohm for burps and and daily.

I tested a Atomic 5k and it did very well powered by a PM D3100 against my Stetsom 7kd. The Atomic 5k should have been around 1db stronger than the 2k6d.

There is the possibility that you have reached your compression limit of the sub in your enclosure but unlikely. I've given a single 12 DD 9912 3k and then 5k and it gained 1.4db. Give it that I had a different enclosure than you so it's hard to compare. But you shouldn't have reached compression on that DD 15 yet.

Unless the suspension is very very loose from breaking in and you could actually be loosing control. How is the suspension feel? Should still be tight and not bouncy. I've had a suspension break down on a DD before. You loose spl big time with not enough suspension or worn out suspension. That's why when I order or recone DD's now I always get Extra stiff suspension. I have yet to have extra stiff to break down with hundreds of burps on them at over 3k a burp.
