Just took out my d4 obsidians and put in fi q d2 and running at half ohm on incriminatir 20.1. Running several runs of zero and about 300 ah in batts. Adjusted gains and staying around 14 volts but amp goes into protect as soon as I turn the volume up. WHY??? I THOUGHT the 20.1 can run at half ohm no problem. I can strap two amps for a 2 ohm load but haven't had time to do that yet. Any info would be awsome and appreciated. I've never tried half ohm before.

Running at 1/2 ohm really depends on your impedance curve. Impedance rises and falls, so you could very easily be dropping below 1/2 ohm causing it to protect.

Ok but I thought these amps are amazing at all low ohm loads. Besides what u are saying is there anything else??

I remember hearing that the new models do not handle the lower impedance as well as the older ones. I do not have personal experience with the amp to qualify that statement though.

or the d2 subs readings are below 2 ohms each coil
Most amps will play well below rated if they're not beat up. After rise and everything I'm sure he's seeing no where close to .5 ohm. Most people don't see anything close to their target load. Dirty mixtape music and bad recordings will do a lot more damage and trip protect a LOT more than you'd assume.

Coils read 1.7. Does clipping sensitivity change the lower the ohm load. With the d4 obsidians I had the gain set with dd1. I turned it way down for half ohm. The only reason I traded into these was to go louder but it seems thats noy gonna happen at half ohm like I thought.

No. It produces square waves which causes excessive heat. Your amp is either going into thermal protect or clip protect from dirty source files. You using CD, iPod.. what? Mixtape music? High/low quality MP3?

I'm using my phone wich is cricket and has unlimited music downloads. Its what I've always used. So like an ipod I would say. Plugs in with aux cord.
