Are you happy with your set-up???

I think its funny how most people on here judge their satisfaction of their set-ups by the SPL. I am satisfied with everything I have. BUT, I will certainly mess around with different boxes and designs in the trunk. I also have plans to try to get serious with imaging. Hopefully I dont ever have to buy new equipment, only install/fabrication materials. I have never been on a meter, but I know I am satisfied with the way music is reproduced out of my equipment.

Be careful, if you don't know what you're doing, you can get way in over your head w/a processor.

They are very helpful in the car audio environment. Look at what you want to achieve and look for one that will do that and that alone. Look into future uses too. You can still get something that "has it all" but who said you have to use it all? I know those statement seem to negate each other, but don't get more then you can "control".

i have been doing research for a month now. it looks like the alpine h701 is really nice. but what makes the h 701 so good? and is it better than the jbl ms8? i want to do sound quality competition later in the rookie class, if there is one.

I'm very happy with my equipment but I'm ready to redo my trunk. Just want something different and a little more original. My list of equipment speaks for itself.

MS-8 is the better processor of the two. The h701 is great processor on a budget. It's a jack of all trades master of none type of thing. You get time alignment, 32 bands of eq for every speaker, 6 outputs plus the sub, 5.1 support, etc for a VERY good price. However, it has it's issues. The processor is a bit noisy on some outputs mainly. Also the EQ bands arent' don't quite adjust by what they say they do, but if your tuning by ear and not with a computer aiding you you'll always do what sounds right anyway so no biggie.

The MS-8 does everything the h701 does and alot more. It also doesn't have the noise issues and can tune itself, but it costs more too. Over 2x the price as you can get a h701 used for pretty cheap and MS-8's are like 600+.

Honestly tuning isn't half as hard as this forum thinks it is. Yeah, you may not be scott buwalda, but just a little experimentation and you can make a car a sound ALOT better than it did with no tuning if you just spend some time tweaking it for a bit. It's alot more grafifying and cheaper than simply switching stuff out until you find things that somehwat work together. That's probably why most of this forum swaps gear out so much, they don't know how to actually implement it to make it sound good or achieve their goals.

PS. I did like someone else mentioned find it funny that many people simply had numbers they wanted to hit on a meter to be "happy" with the vehicle.
