Are the JL Audio 12W7 Specs too small?

A box built to their specs is 15.5 Inches Wide, 15.5 Inches Tall, and 15 Inches in Depth. Is this too small or are their specifications perfect?

It's not to the ideal recommendation. I think the 12" calls for 1.8cu, about. It won't make that much of a difference, and if they use fill, you'll be fine.

I believe you are comparing a sealed box to a ported one, in which case a doubling of the size is normal.
Just plug the speaker specs into an enclosure calculator, determine the alignment you want, and it will spit out the correct dimensions.

yea but the actual box is offset from the dimensions, plus there is tons of bracing on the inside of the HO box

the h.o box is like ~4.0 cubes and the recommended ported box is 1.75 cubes....i dont think there is 2.25 cubic feet worth of bracing bro

it was way too small for my taste. I didnt like it, it seem to peak at the higher freqs. I suggest bigger and tuned much lower than the specs. I missed the lows so I went back to sealed.
