About made my mind up to do 4-RE 8's in my Tacoma. The box is about 1.3 cubes total, sealed, and I have a Punch 300-1. Only have about 4.25 inches of depth. I searched the forums and found lots of info on ported installs but would they bang pretty good in a sealed box?

4 of them would be ok in a sealed box. you need to give them more power though. you would be sending only 75 watts to each sub. you need around 700 rms for all 4. i'm doing 3 dayton 8's in my truck ported. i bought a couple of cheap cerwin vega 8's to find out how i like 8's, and they actually surprised me a little. i had them in 2.2 cubes ported at 33hz. running them at 16 ohms for 350 watts. or that's my best guess. i really have no idea what i get at 16 ohms. i get 1400 at 4 ohms. anyway, i'm gonna try 3 good quality 8's ported. RE was 1 of the top options, but i wanted to do a little more power. i actually thought about the tang band 8's as well.

Well I did some figuring and the people that built the box were way off on the advertised volume of the box I bought. I have only about .38 per chamber (thought it looked small) So I'm going with 2-8's. Now I gotta figure out if it's possible to wire 4-4ohm voice coils to get around 2 ohms.

I have 2 RE8's

First, you can NOT wire them to 2 ohms....either 4ohms or 1 ohm.

second.... .38 per sub is small...my box is 1.5cubes or .75 per sub...maybe a LITTLE on the large size but not much

Used to have a PG Xenon 400.1 running at 425 watts on them...sounded great and hit 135.5 decibels with them.....not bad for 2 8's

oh and the box IS ported

I now have a Memphis PRD500.1, the subs are wired to 1ohm, so 500 watts...but I have to keep the gain down on it, cause 500 watts is a little too much ....but anyway, they still sound great. Make my rearview mirror shake so bad, I cant tell what kind of car is behind me...lol
