Any truth to inverted subs not being as loud?

I'm thinking of doing my next setup with an inverted 15". I've "heard" through out that inverted setups just arent as loud. Is there any truth to that?

No, but one can see where one would think that. The motor structure would be blocking the cone's potential output, but no.

I'm sure it'll be prettier than my box..... Should be no difference.

My SX's were louder inverted, I would believe it's due to the box being smaller then it should have but i'm not sure.

it MIGHT make a difference if it was a sealed enclosure, but in my experience, its not an audible difference

The only audible difference will be the increased chance of audible motor noise. That is especially true for a center console enclosure.
