Im wondering if i can run full length headers in my 81 catalina, swapping a 455 into it this weekend and id like to go ahead and order the headers. This is the same frame as a caprice, and basically any other big GM car. Looks like i have the room but im not sure, anyone tried this before?

Just some flowtech brand full length headers from oreillys, 1 7/8 downtubes and 3" collectors.

probably firbird/***** am headers. Might have to make them fit.

Probably, its an olds 455 btw. Olds 455s dont have the same rx. manifold pattern as pontiac 455s do they? I have one laying around but havent bothered to look at it.

i was looking at the headers for the olds 350, the motor has a set of worked 350 #5 heads on it, those headers are for the big block heads, im not sure if the BP is the same. The part number im looking at is 11150FLT by flowtech. Very similar though. Im just trying to find out whether i can fit full length headers on the car.

You sure? Ive read mixed thoughts on that, some say they cant fit full length headers even on a tiny SBC. I assume the olds 455 is around the same size as a 454 chev?

i might go ahead and order the flowtech 11150s, theyre only 150 bucks, thats about what i had budgeted for the headers anyway. Now i gotta "modify" the crossmember into a double hump //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I have some flowtechs on my 80 Caprice, but it's just a sbc. They were the only company at the time that had something for my car.

im a b body daily driver. i think with bigger engines in cars with the same frame you have to heat an beat it or notch the frame to get it to fit. depends on what state too, some headers are illegal in certain ones better check 1st
