Another gain DMM thread

I think the problem with this thread is the accuracy we set gains to. Obviously a dmm isn't the most accurate way, but it will keep you from damaging your speakers.

With out a load, you just don't account for box rise, so you will give a little less than max to your speakers in a real scenario. In the lanes this will matter, but for a daily driver it doesn't matter. For most people it's not worth dropping lots of cash on an oscilloscope to get that little extra output

maybe he was, but the gain being up all the way and having a cap as a power supply that can absorb the peaks and provide the power needed to generate the proper wave makes sense. but what he didnt account for was the charging system to resupply the caps. and since cap discharge and charge much more rapidly than batts, is still make sense but not something I am willing to gamble on. I could be wrong but I am just hypot right now. I dont know for sure.

I am still going to set my gains with my DMM and test tones. I dont have funds to get an O'scope.

I've never used a cap but doesnt it just give full power to your amp when the electrical cant fully support the amp by itself so it evens out your music more or less? If so, then when it gave full power to your amp with the gains all the way up...sounds like trouble haha. I could be totally wrong though
