Angles on inside corners of box? Hows it help?

I have seen a few box builds where people take like 45 degree angles peices and put them along the corners of the inside of the box. Does this give you more SPL or what? And what would you suggest doing it with?

people do it to add bracing to the box, and it allows better airflow. Corners=bad

Some say that only cornering the port helps.

Primarily for smoother airflow ... More air resistance = less SPL ...
