Amps getting hot recently

I have a mm75.4 bridged on my cdt's pushing about 150rms. When I upgraded my wire to 0 gauge from battery to a distro splitting into 4 gauge for the amps I forgot the ground wires terminal ring for my high amp back at school so I left the 8g ground. A week ago I upgraded that ground to 4g. I havent driven the truck much since Ive been at my parents but I took it out last night to run to mobile for a concert (an hour drive). Well on long drives I play my music fairly loud. I had the deck at 50/80 which I usually keep it around 50-60/80. well 45 min into the drive the highs cut out so I turned everything off. Went to the show and when I was leaving I turned everything back on and it was working so I figured the amp must've gotten hot and shut off. On the way home I kept it around 45-48/80 and it did fine but when I got home I went and touched the amp and it was way to hot.

Long story short would a bad ground cause my amp to get hot or am I looking at another problem?

where is the amp at? there wasn't anything on it preventing circulation? a shirt or anything? how good is the ground.. it is possible..

I did forget to mention that the amp is under the seat on the passenger side. My bag was sitting on the floor which causes a lot of restriction on air circulation but it always sit there on the rides to and from school so I wasnt quite sure about it.

The ground is actually not as tight as Id like it to be so I had planned to find a way to get it tighter. It was decently tight when I installed it but theres a possibility it loosened up, Ill have to check it.

As to the other guy I know amps produce heat from power...I've had this amp long enough to know that it doesnt usually do this. It had never cut off until changed the ground which makes me think thats the reason.

Double check your ground, you might need to move the ground or clean it up, sounds like your amp isn't grounded well enough. You say that this problem happened when you upgraded your wire, so the only change was the wire. This would lead me to believe this is also the problem. Double check your grounds.

How was your voltage at the time? If you are running into problems after a long run time, your battery might be drained. That would lead to lower voltage and higher amperage. Higher amperage leads to hotter components and protect mode cutoffs.
