Im settin up for 2 hdc3 15's on a crunch gp 3000d-pro amp.

Im going to start with a Powermaster d3100 battery up front. then if i need it a mechman or dcpower(i think) highoutput alt, and second 3100 if i need it.

does that sound about right?

also, will the d3100 fit in my chevy silverado 1500 v6 battery location under the hood? i think ill have to make some room somehow lol

The D3100 will fit with some mods. IIRC the Chevy 1500 series has a group 27 under the hood. A group 31 is an inch longer and just under an inch taller.

As for whether or not that will be enough, I would doubt it unless you have an HO alt already. I would think you would be better off with another D3100 near the amps as well. IIRC they can handle about 2400wrms each. If you have any front stage at all, you will be well above what one D3100 can support by itself.

Alot of the thought going into this is stuff i can upgrade into.

for my front stage i have a small 2 channel street machines amp that was givin to me. but i plan on gettin a 4 channel 80- 120 watt per channel amp.

and with those aq 15 hdc3 copper coil subs, i want to push them, but i def don't want to be close to there limit. if they are able to handle 2400, i don't think i want to go much higher then 2k per sub you know? i don't do comps and i don't need to be as loud as possible. rediculously loud is ok lol, but just a daily driving safe load would be fine.

jw someone said i could use an optima yellow top under the hood with a h/0 alt, and id probably put a pm d3100 in the back. how would that work for a 4500 to (exaggerating) 5k watt system total?

edit. Would it be bad to mix and match batts? would i be better off with gettin to exact same batts. ex - 2 d3100's?

Yeah i was thinkin about getting 2, and an h/o alt.
What is IIRC?
IIRC = If I remember correctly

A yellow under the hood plus one D3100 would be the very minimum I would suggest and even would expect some dimming at that point with 4500wrms. If you want to try it out, go ahead. I think you will find yourself wanting 2 D3100s in the end.

If you go with a HO Alt I would for sure recommend going through Mechman. He even sent me my power chart so I can see officially how my alt did on the power charts. Fast shipping and he had a great price! Mine was for a 2004 f150 I got his 250 amp alt, and its been perfect!

I would say that a 250a alt would be a good fit. I am not sure I would say plenty, but it should work.

Remember Amps x Volts = Watts

So for you 250a x 14v = 3500w

That is a little less than your system at max volume (not peak output). If you draw more current than that (250a) then that is where the batteries will kick in. That is why it is so important to have good battereies too. I think with the 250a alt and the yellow under the hood plus two HC2400 or D3100 in the back, you will be really good. Just make sure you don't skimp on the wire and properly fuse you positive wires. Should be a badass system.

yeah well im pretty much set on getting an alternator now. would it be best to go with a yellowtop under the hood, and the d3100 in the back?

will it be bad if they arne't identical? (the batteries)

should i save a little more and go with 2 d3100's? (would rather stick with the yellowtop upfront though)

"I have a couple options that would be perfect for what you are doing:

I have ProPower 200 amp unit, it does 125 amps at 800 rpm, and is only $299.

I have a ProPower 220 amp unit, it does 135 amps at 800 rpm, and is $349.

I also have our 250 amp Rhino kit, does 150 amps at 800 rpm, includes built

in adjustable voltage, and is only $399.

I have all 3 in stock, and any of them will be a huge improvement over your

stock unit. If you call me to order, I will pay for all the shipping and

handling, providing you live in the continental US.

Thanks!

Matt

1-888-MECHMAN (extension 7)"

This is the email i just got back from Mechman (i send it yesterday)

but yeah i definitely like the 250 amp Rhino kit. that sounds perfect, for what i want to run, and anything in the future.

what do ya'll think would be my best option?

btw, my truck is a 2000 silverado ext. lol age is an issue but what can u do?
