amp/sub problem

i jus installed my 2 sledgehammers with mtx 6001 amp headunit pioneer avh dvd player. and whne i turn it on i hear a thumping /heartbeat noise when its at like 5 the volume and when i turn it up it sounds like crap , theres a button on the amp the bass gain control when i turn that on it goes away but i can stil here a lil bit is this a wiring problem? maybe the sub wires are touchin or negative is into positive or something anybody who knows wut could be the problem pls lett me know thanks in advance

Short or try grounding the RCAs...

Id say the grounding the RCAs is your best bet, thanks to the Pioneer HU. I had to do the same on mines...

so get new rca wires well see i had another mtx 4004 amp and that works perfectly fine when i plug it in , but whne i put this 1 in today it does it so i dont think its that:S

My MTX amps were picky in sorts. I have owned a few, same as you. One works, the other pops then sort of pulses into distortion...

yea i duno im getting it cheked tomorow by futureshop hopefully its not a big problem otherwise il jus use my other mtx.. but i wanna feel the full power outa my sledgehammers lol

yea but there thumping like a b**** too lol so i duno when i turn it up the thumping goes away but then it sounds like shit i think its some wiring

i think you have dirty ground man..rev you have pm bud..=)

Hey Armani, when I got that kinda thumping I tried extending the radios ground wire, and grounding it to the same spot as the offending amp. If you have your thickly gauged power wire running along side the RCA wires, might have to separate those.
