Amp is smoking

I have an Alpine MRP-MP500 am. I have had it since 08, and it was pushing an 07 Kicker CompR 15" up until a few months ago. I just replace that sub with a Kicker CompS 2-ohm 15". All week I have had the amp turned down to break in the sub. I turned the amp up to where it was before, and today the amp started smoking. Please help! Is my amp done? It still runs the sub, but like I said it either starts to smoke or smell like its burning????.......

My gain is set between 1/2 & 3/4. Im only running 1 SVC 2-ohm sub so the final load is 2-ohms not 1.......

1/2 and 3/4 seems a little high. How did you set your gains? DMM?

your signal might have flat spots on the peaks of the sound waves - comonly referd to as "clipping"

its a great way to heat up and kill suboofers and amps

You need to keep the smoke INSIDE the amplifier. Once you've allowed all the happy smoke to escape the amp will stop working.

You can get the same one if you want. Just learn how to properly set gains with a DMM, which means Digital Multi-Meter.

Yes the amp still works.....and no, i didnt use a DMM.......will this amp fry my new sub??
