Amp is getting hot, cause?

Back when I had a kx1200 the amp was seeing a 1.375 ohm load and never got hot, just throwing that out there....
Interesting to know, im gonna try again today and see if i can provide more info. I have another kx 1200.1 so im gonna switch them and give it a shot

I used to strap a pair of them to 1 ohm, would go into protect without subsonic filter on but mine never got hot enough to worry me. I had a couple extra batteries in the trunk when I did it though.

Wonder how bad OP's voltage is dropping?

dude atleast add a second batt and dont listen to anyone seriously u should get a better alt period....put a second batt in the back and check what voltage ur amps are seeing
Yea i was about to say my batt sticker reads 600 something cranking amps or something like that. Idk if this is of any use. Oh and btw its 2 subs wired to 1 amp now, the second amp is in my room. Im gonna Switch my amps and see if the problem persists. The battery may not be good anymore, because my HiDs dont turn on evenly when the car is off, so maybe thats an indicator. Thanks bro ill probably need that battery your talking about.

May be significant. My one concern is that my brother used to use it like that and im afraid the amp may be damaged already, but im gonna try to narrow the problems dOwn tonight and see if i can come to a conclusion

Another question: i took the distro block and piece of 4 gauge out, but now my power wire is too short for the amp. However, back when i had two amps, i was using two separate spots/grounding wires for grounding. Can i use that chunk of wire to make my power cable a bit lOnger? If so, will tape be enough to hold the wires together? Or can it melt?

UPDATE: i swapped the amps, but problem continued. pretty sure its a voltage thing now. gonna add a second batt and see what happens. or should i just go with one good batt in the front?
