Amp is getting hot, cause?

That's nice to bad he's using a kx, don't kicker amps run warm anywho I know with my sx amps WITH coolin fans still sitting temp of 90-110 degrees. Me thinks he has a loose fuse or the wire going to the amp is loose in the distro

im gonna go off and say ur gains and what not are all the way up

The kx manual calls for 1/0. The reason i have a dist block was because at first i intended on running two amps. I didnt use the second amp, so i just pulled the second wire from the block leaving 1 4gauge wire leading to the amp. The wire itself is about 1ft long. Its ****** wire, believe me. And no my gains are about only half way up. The only wire that was warm was the 4 gauge, so im assuming thats the issue and im going to just run the 1/0 directly. And today was about 80 degrees. Ill check all my connections and see if the problem persists. Oh and the subs are wired for a 1 ohm final

so u have 4 gauge running to the back and have that then distro'd into 0 gauge?

He's running 1/0 to the distro block then a short piece of 4 ga to the amp

UPDATE: yesterday i was playing it for a bit in the afternoon and it got warm, but then it started to skip (clip) on some of the songs with more bass than usual. my brother had this amp before me for a few years and he said it would skip, so im pretty sure he clipped it on quite a few occasions. i have another amp identical, so i might swap them and test the other one. at this point i think that the amp is probably damaged to some degree. i also removed to the distro block and ran 1/0 directly to the amp.

most of the kx series arent, but the 1200 is 1 ohm stable.

What a minute ur not he guy who tried to strap them on stock electrical are u......what does ur electrical look like? Stock alt? Stock batt?

How high are u gains again? And bass boost?

Yea im that guy, no more amp strapping though. Gain is half way and the bass bost is off. I was about to put in a new alt but some members on this site suggested i didnt need one for just one amp.

Back when I had a kx1200 the amp was seeing a 1.375 ohm load and never got hot, just throwing that out there....
