Amp has no power

I don't understand what pictures would do?? There's a power wire going from battery to amp, ground wire from ground to amp, and a remote wire going from headunit, to a switch, then to the amp.

Here's an update. I was just fidgeting with the remote wire and the amp flickered on and off...but this was with the truck turned off???i can't seem to get it to do it again

do you have a factory head unit? is that why the remote is on a switch??

The first thing i would do is use a dmm to ensure you have 12+ volts from pos to gnd at the amp. then, turn on your switch, and see if you have 12v+ from remote to gnd

edit: or a quick short cut would be to place a small jumper from pos on amp directly to remote. verify light comes on

edit 2: jeffs a faster typer

then your remote turn on is likely 1) coming from the wrong source, check your wiring. and/or 2) not making a good connection somewhere, again check your wiring...

get a DMM and check for voltage with your + on the pos/remote and - on your amplifier ground.

So just to do a little test, jump the remote wire from the amps power to the amps remote with a little wire and hook the subs up to make sure that the amp is worjing and confirm that there is no problems with the amp.
Yes this made the amp power up

Yes this made the amp power up
then pull your switch, and see if you have 12v going in, and 12v going out. could be the switch

or if you have nothing to ground on either side, then you need to travel to next junction in line.

btw, where is the "remote power" coming from? the head unit? or the battery??

for most purposes, i tell people to get a Harbor freight cheapo.. theyre like $7 and do ac/dc ,resistance.. you dont need a fluke to check voltage.. hopefully you have a HF near by.

i actually wait for the free coupons and get meters just to stash at peoples houses.. so when im over, i have something to work with in a pinch

if you dont have a HF, maybe walmart or some form of electronical store might have a Light tester for a couple bucks..

Okay I take the dmm and put the red on the power wire where it hooks up to the amp and put the black where I have my ground mounted. Dmm reads 1.6 for a second then drops down slowly to 0.2. Wtf am

I doing this right lol
