Amp recommendations

So recently I had a sundown sia 3500 running 2 sundown uv2 12s but the amp finally went after years. So I bought a taramps 3k the big boss bass (as I was looking for something within the budget) but its not hitting as hard as the sia 3500. When I measured the volts for some reason its dropping to 10.9. My sundown amp was doing just fine with all my electrical so im looking for something that is 3500 to 4k watts rms and that I can find off Amazon. ( I have 400 amp alt, big 3 up front, 0 gauge run from front to back battery, a ground from back battery to chasis.) Please help me find a amp that will work for me thank you.

I ended up trading the taramp the big boss bass for the ds18 frp 3.5k.

So funny thing is I did a rookie mistake and didn't turn the gain up as high as I could. So I ended sticking with the taramps the big boss 3k and I love it. Its 3k rms from 0.5 ohm to 2 ohms.
The gain is supposed to match your amplifier to the signal coming from your source. Can you tell us how you turned up your gain "as high as I could"? I've always used this method.

Steps to Match Amp Gain to Head Unit

  • Assessing Head Unit Specifications: Start by familiarizing yourself with your head unit’s specifications. Look for information on voltage output, preamp outputs, and any other relevant details. The user manual is a valuable resource for this.
  • Determining Amp Gain Requirements: Consider the power requirements of your speakers. The aim is to match the power output of your amplifier to the capabilities of your speakers. This ensures that you get the best sound quality without risking damage to your speakers.
  • Adjusting Amp Gain: Once armed with the necessary information, it’s time to adjust the amp gain. This is a step-by-step process that involves setting the gain control on your amplifier to match the specifications of your head unit. Start with a conservative setting and gradually increase until you achieve the desired sound quality.

So I tried to do with a volt meter where you do 3000x the ohm load so in my case it was sp 3000x1 is 3000 then you take the square root of 3000 which is 54.77 and then you set your volt meter prongs to the speaker output and turn it up till the volt meter says 54.77 on ac current. When I did that method the subs didn't sound heavy like they use to and I was like there's something wrong with the amp. So I decided before I got another amp ill buy the taramps monitor that plugs into the amp. So I did and then I set it up and I turned the gain up until the clip light turned on then back it down a little bit to make sure im not clipping at all. When I did that the subs came alive again. So thats what I mean the gain was set way to low with the volt meter and so I set with the clip light and it works perfectly. Amp is staying above 13 volts when playing music and then if I play a 40 hz test tone it will drop down to 12.74. So thats what I did.

Damn skippy. My mind jumped to worse case scenario telling me I had somehow degaussed the subs.
When i get this amp my mind went to the worst case scenario 😂😂 ill probably make more mistakes has I learn more and more. I went to re wire my whole setup so I can get it ready for a 8k set up thats my goal. But I need to get 2 agm rear battery's first right now i only have a superbank xs power battery.

Thanks for the clarification. Happy listening.
