Amp for two 8 ohm subs

I have a pair of old RCA 15" 8 ohm subwoofers.

I want to put them in my car sometime in the next month but I don't have an amplifier. These are ridiculously powerful subs (used before in a PA system) and I think that most amps would not be powerful enough to get them to a good volume. I have seen lots of amps that claim 1000-2000 watts but at 1 ohm. My problem is that I have two 8 ohm subwoofers.

Does anyone know of any amplifiers that are designed for high ohms that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Thanks

You just need an amp that is going to run at 4 ohms i guess.

You should look into the memphis power reference series, i had one of these amps back in the day and it was a little monster. I forget how much it was, but it was 400x1@4 ohms bridged.

The PG Xenon 1200.1 would be fine but very difficult to find. The newer Soundstream Tarantula 2 channel amps can be bridged to do what you need. They are also more readily available.

8 ohm drivers aren't that uncommon, used to be fairly standard. Being that they are 8 ohm PA drivers, they're probably very efficient. They probably won't need a whole lot of power but they will probably need a huge box to sound decent. I see an infinte baffle arrangement in your future.
