need an amp for 2-a/d/s/ S10 subs

Yes that is right, two a/d/s/ 20 year old, paper cone, butyle surround 150watt subs. I have had them powered with an a/d/s/ PQ20 @200w each. I now have them hooked up to an Alphasonik PMA800DA @ 1200w mono, but after messing around with it this spring, I do not like the amp any more. For some reason with the gain all the way up the amp barely has any output, I have to turn up the base control at 45hz and then that muds everything up. Another wierd thing is the base is MUCH louder with the trunk open but I will work on that later (box size).

So, please help me get the proper amp to power my old school subs. I am running them through an a/d/s/ 642ix and have then crossed over at 65hz in a 1.16cu ft per sub, box. An amp with sub base control would be nice but I also can control the subs a bit with the 642ix.

I would really like to get a McIntosh amp to go along with my Mc MX406 but that is a weeee bit out of the budget at this point. Lets say $300-$400.

Never mind. I stopped at the store that I used to work at to pick up a new cap thinking maybe the cap was bad. The owner made me an offer on a McIntosh MCC302 that I couldn't pass up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. So, the amp is on the way.

I did put in a new cap and that cleared the problem up. The old cap was cery old and probably ******* power.

the only delema I have now is do I use the MCC302 for the fronts or for the subs. I was thinking of building a new box and putting all 4-S10's that I have in it. You could have just left the cap out and you wouldn't have heard the difference.
