I was wondering if somebody could tell me a little more about these amps..I was looking into the 120.1 but was wondering if these amps are more known to be overrated or underrated..if they are reliable..etc..

I've seen AB used alot in the MECA lanes in ohio, the amps are very reputable. Some of the boards are similar to the big hifonics brutus amps. They are conservatively rated or not rated at all

xenon built amps. i amp a ab dealer. very good quality. under rated. lot of ppl use these amps in the spl lanes.

Overrated in my opinion. even then, it's still a great amp and never got hot on me.

Your a dealer for Bob and don't even know where his amps come from. They use the same buildhouse in Korea as Maxxsonics(north america) not the good European Maxxsonics stuff. Also it is spelled Zenon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As for under-rated I would argue that. Maybe at a 4ohm load or at higher voltage. I ran several 500.1s, great amps dont get me wrong, but you would not see 5k+ out of them at stock voltage. So to say they are underrated is incorrect.

yes i am a dealer. i was told a couple of year ago that they were built by xenon. i won't argue. i am sure jacob knowes what he is talking about.

It's Zenon. But Zenon does not make the American Bass amps. It's the same designs that Zenon uses, but different factory.

The American Bass VFL series are great.

The VFL 500.1 = the same board and parts as many other 4Kw rated amplifiers. It's a 4K amp with stock voltage yes, 5K at 16v and up I am sure. I think the VFL 500.1 uses 2 transformers in the power supply rather than 4 like many other amps that use the same board and parts, but it all comes out the same 2 big transformers is equal to 4 smaller ones, the end result is the same, the use of 4 transformers helps spread the weight out on the board a little better to stiffen up the board, so IMO the amps that use 4 transformers vs 2 would be a better choice for long term reliability, but your mileage may vary depending on the level of vibration your particular amp is subjected to.

The amp was rated at 1800 watts at 11v and 1.8ohm and in the same test they got 2300 from a sundown 3k

i have a vfl 100.1 that i havent tried out yet. kinda wanting to see what itl do. supposedly does about 1500rms.

People claim 3000 watts @ 1 ohm from a VFL 150.1... Probably so with a higher than normal input voltage (16V and up) but not at 12V....

The VFL 100.1 is probably more like 1200 RMS, sorry. Maybe a really dirty nasty 1500rms, but usuable I would say 1200 rms. There are several different boards that went in the 100.1's too if I recall correctly, so that may vary some depending on which board your 100.1 uses.... worked on a few.

Eh the results i was given when i bought the amp said 11v 1800W at almost 2 ohms. I figure its good for atleast 2000w at 14.4V and 2 ohms. Tryin to figure what its good for at .5 ohms...
