American Bass

I just bought a 120.1 a few weeks ago because I needed a decent amp before a show. So far I'm extremely impressed with it. I've been running a HD12 for a few months and I really like it.

Eh the results i was given when i bought the amp said 11v 1800W at almost 2 ohms. I figure its good for atleast 2000w at 14.4V and 2 ohms. Tryin to figure what its good for at .5 ohms...
Not sure who went out on a limb and told you that kind of numbers from that amp, but I wouldn't beleive that at all... Are you sure they didn't mean 1200 watts @ 14 volts? I don't think the 100.1 is stable at .5 ohm... only the 150 and bigger. 100.1 is kinda entry level...

I haven't seen the inside of the 120.1 but I would suspect the same innerds as the 100.1 maybe a few more parts.

Anyway, most of the American Bass amps do very well.

People claim 3000 watts @ 1 ohm from a VFL 150.1... Probably so with a higher than normal input voltage (16V and up) but not at 12V....
The VFL 100.1 is probably more like 1200 RMS, sorry. Maybe a really dirty nasty 1500rms, but usuable I would say 1200 rms. There are several different boards that went in the 100.1's too if I recall correctly, so that may vary some depending on which board your 100.1 uses.... worked on a few.
yes the 100.1 rated for 1200rms. but i would imagine at a higher voltage its capable of close to 1500. i agree on 1200 usable on a 12-14v system.

i will add that most competition amps are grossly underrated at 4ohms for power class reasons. thats why back in the day everyone used hc amps. push out 2k+ rms and be in the 101-250w class. they should go back to having more power classes like they used to. maybe not as many but maybe just a couple more classes would be cool. im talking usaci, 1-300, 301-600, 601-1k, 1001-2k, 2k and up. that would be nice. sorry to babble on lol.

youre still probably not getting that from a 150.1

I heard service was mediocre but unfortunately that seems to be common for a lot of companies these days. Atleast you know that DB-r can fix it if something goes wrong.
