i'll leave names out of this... so I was talking to a guy selling a sub. he is brand new to the forums, and I asked him if he would ship first since he had no refs and he was new. He responed saying that he knew one guy on here personally (this member doesn't have a high post count, but has been here for a while). Honestly, I didn't even look the guy up until he PMed me. I told the seller that the only way I wanted to work this deal was him ship first, otherwise I was going to pass on it. I have more than enough refs for him to trust me. But that was the terms. If he doesn't want to sell it that way, hey I missed out on a good deal.
Today I got a PM from his friend saying... (clips)

"To call your offer inappropriate would be a gross understatement IMO. I have plenty of references here too and would NEVER have the gumption to request an item sent to me with no payment, that is absolutely ridiculous."

"I'm sure your honest and that the deal would have went through fine, but I just had to state that behavior like that is exactly why people new to this hobby or forum in general will be put off."

"It's obviously up to him whether or not he accepts your offer, but i know one thing for sure, I wouldn't buy a **** thing from you."

Am I totally out of line? I wasn't threatening the dude. this is how I ended my last PM "if you want to sell it, thats the way i'll buy it. otherwise, good luck with the sale." No pressure for him to take me up on my offer...

Don't take that out of context, I didn't apologize to anyone but him and it was an apology for not knowing there are more than one person that does this crap on here.

Your condescending tone won't help this situation at all, you can't admit that you ALL jumped to conclusions, even the mods. One of which edits a post after I correct him, thats pretty slimy if you ask me, but that probably didn't happen according to you did it?

I can say one thing, I'm honest, and thats more than a lot of the people around here.

Let me be clear, and I have already stated this to Pat in a PM (where it belongs):
If I would have know that it was commonplace on this forum for people to actually ship a product to someone with nothing in exchange based on the almighty "refs" then I wouldn't have bothered PM'ing him, and I apologized to him for it.

This doesn't change the fact that I still find the whole idea completely ridiculous, but if ridiculous is the norm around here, thats fine.

I was insulted by what he was doing because IN ANY NORMAL SITUATION THAT IS A RIDICULOUS REQUEST. Now I find out that is just how some people on here operate, ok then, thats fine.

And any crap you post about me harassing him is a bunch of bull, I sent him one PM, left it at that. Now if you would have sent more than one maybe I could understand your point, but i did not.

This forum passed judgment on two innocent people, said people defended themselves, you will get no apology from me for that.

my only question is what business is it of yours if pat asks to ship first or not. if the guy didnt want to he should have said no. You, on the other hand, had no business getting involved other than to posibly give a reference for your friend, you had no reason to get all defensive and "offended" you were not the one asked to ship first since you had no references or anyone to vouch for you.

I've already said this once, but I will repeat it again, Malevolent asked my opinion of the situation and sent me all the PM's. I looked them all over and it was my opinion that it was absurd. I did not inject myself into the situation on my own, I asked malevolent if he minded if i repsond, he said go right ahead, so thats what I did.

And you say he "should" have said no?? Did you not see Malevolents post with the two PM's from pat asking him to ship the item for nothing in return TWICE and him replying "no" TWICE?

Are you now saying that everyone that sends a PM needs some kind of special permission, as in I have to be dealing with the guy in some capacity? I thought this was an open forum, as in public, as in you can mail whoever you want.

And since you had a question, I have one too: Why did you edit your post to completely change the content of your post as well as where I quoted that post just make yourself appear correct? Do you not see this as an abuse of Mod privilages?

only time i edited my post on here was where i worded something wrong and i corrected it. (i changed it from "i figured the guys is being scammed...." to "i figured if the guy is being scammed....")

Yes, when you said I "claimed" thousands of people would be seen on that address, then after I posted a response to that you went back added on to your original post to make it look like you weren't wrong....

Now one thing I didn't think of is if you edit your post will it automatically change it in MINE since I quoted the original?
