am/fm problems on kenwood

I have a kenwood 8017 head unit and the am/fm reception is horrible. My factory head unit had perfect reception. I used the proper antenna adapter when I connected my new head unit. Anyone have any tips?

maybe the connection on the inside of the deck itself is faulty. you could always send it back to kenwood and ask for a new one but that would take a couple of weeks. i guess check and recheck your connections. maybe the wire's faulty. hope that helped a little bit.
