I have a 1994 s10 blazer with a 4.3l v6 and i want to run dual alts i was wondering if i have to get an alternator thats specific for my vehicle or will any alternator work since im going to make a custom bracket for it.also what will i need to wire it to an extra battery?

That's easy any alt will work if you make your own bracket just make sure it has the same pully as your stock one has. Make sure your bracket has plenty of adjustment cause you will have to "find" a belt that will work. As far as wiring it that's easy too there is a charging lug that you connect to the battery and that's pretty much it. Alts are self contained usually and as long as they are spinning and bolted to the motor for a ground they just work. Upgrade your big three and throw a couple of batts in the mix and bamm solid electrical !!

Before you buy a 400$ alt figure out how much ampreage you need cause you can buy at autozone up to 200 amp alts for like an escalade for pretty cheap like 120$

Toughest part really is making the bracket and finding the belt.. How much output do you need?? I can give you the exact alt part # if you can gimme an idea of what you are wanting to power.

There are a few companies that make alts for your truck. I had a 95. So I can help you out with what you want. Also does your truck have the ac compressor still ? Does it work ? If not. Then it can be removed and a second alt placed there. And you can use the stock belt to

It Biggs me that high output alt for car audio cost so much there is just not that much to them and 4-5 hundred dollars is just rediclous in my mind. That's why I suggested trying to find an alt that you can buy at a parts store like auto zone .

What are your power needs??

Im fairly new at this stuff.my first build was in a 1989 blazer i had a 200 amp alt inthat one but i was only running 2 15" l7 on a oldschool 1600 rms soundstream amp. So any help is greatly appreciated

Singer makes a 250 alt for your truck. And actually the 2 years are the same. Unless yours is a early 94. Which is the square body 1st gen later in 94 they started the 2nd gen body style like mine

yeah i have the first gen.would 250 amps be enough for 8k watts?

Adding a second or third alt is not hard or expensive. I have four alts under the hood of my van. The chevy 140 amp one wire alt makes it easy and you can get them from a junk yard for about $25 bucks each. They produce plenty of power at idle vs some of the high output alts that don’t produce much at idle. Another advantage is that heat build up is spread out with mutable alts. Heat cuts down on the output of any alt and it can be a considerable amount. So one high output alt hot at idle may not even come close to putting out as much as two stock 140 amp one wire units.

I saw a 350 amp on here.is singer better han mechman?
You wouldn't happen to have done an EGR delete on your 4.3 have you? My Sonoma is a 2002 and it didn't come with an EGR from the factory, the intake doesn't even have a spot for one. The second alt conversion I did worked perfect with the alt sitting where the EGR would have been on an older 4.3. Just a thought..... plus the EGR valves did nothing but cause problems anyways. And im in Louisiana so there was no possibility of getting rid of the A/C either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
