Again, before you rush into anything learn as much as you can.

A note about car audio shops: Not all, but a great number try to screw you and get you things that you do not need. You will also spend a ton more money at a shop than by shopping around a little bit. Tell us what the shop is reccomending and for how much, we'll steer you in the right direction. After all, we've got no profit to gain no matter what you go with, they do, remember that.

Ive just heard a 12" Alpine Type X today off of a 500 watt alpine amplifier, sounds really nice and loud, The windows was shaking in the shop, It has such a loud bass output and it has such a great sound quality, but I still prefer the JL Audio W7., Just my opinion.

^ yeah but u can get 2 type x's for the price of a w7. and i really dont like the w7(mainly cuz of the price) i think the w6v2 sounds better...jus ma $.02

No, actually, the Type X's are equipped with dual 4 ohm voice coils.
