Just wondering how do alpine type x compare to other subs in there price range? I have two 10s in a custom box they get decently loud. But I was wondering how they Compare to subs like hdc3 sa.and etc

they don't. While they are clean sounding subs, they just can't be placed in the lines of hdc3 and sa etc.. however.. the 12" model of the x can be made into custom subs.. the 10" might be able to be reconed custom wise as well but I know it has a smaller motor so people normally try to get the 12" models.

The type Rs as what I have always recommend, loud / low somewhat cheap and can take over rated easily... also easily replaceable if blown for whatever reason..

Nothing wrong with your subs, just limited by being made with so/so parts one after another where hdc3 and sa etc are hand build etc per woofer with much better softparts etc.

try to get more out of those subs, a different tuning and checking settings of everything. electrical.. etc etc. every little thing matters to get the most out of the system.

Well I only have them on a dd m80b for now. But when I upgrade amps Idk if should plan on getting power for something better or just 2k for the type x

get bigger and just set accordingly so you'll have the headroom. What I would do anyhow pending finances you had to work with.

Yea like JL said, try different things with them, try a different enclosures etc. ive heard some decent setups from type x's and they sounded good and got decently loud. But cant really compare to Hdc3's and SA's.

I had a 12" type X in a ported box that I built to factory recommended specs that just HAMMERED!!! It was (was!) my favorite woofer I had ever owned.

Not saying Ive owned any of the more recommended woofers on this site, but I have had 2 JL w3v3 10's on 1000RMS, JL w6 13.5, JL 15 forget model, Type R 10's, Kicker L7's, Boston 12, ...

I recently purchased a Sundown Audio X-12 v2 and **** this is a serious woofer. I built a box just like Sundown website recommended (2.5 cubes, 40 inch area port, 33 htz). Im using the same alpine M1005 amp to power this 12 as did my type X. They are comparable in sound and loudness. I will be putting more power to my X12 very soon and the 'comparable' thing just might change.

Type X is supposed to sound good and handle a fair bit of power. The others you listed are supposed to get loud for the sake of getting loud. Apples and oranges.

Careful dude, this is a strange game we play. Those x woofers are decent. I just copped a set of the sq hdc 10s, just trying to save up for a box for them. Once you start messing around with this schit, it is seriously worse than crack, and herion, you WILL get hooked. I been doing it for over 20yrs, still loving every frustrating minute of it. Especially when you finally have the next 'best' thing, only to have some sob sell what you REALLY wanted...lol. It is truly a love/hate relationship, and I know that I am not the only one that feels this way. Chime in, those that agree.

Ported or sealed?

Im guessing that your power is not up to task.

What ohm load are you wired at?

I'm not some random retard that comes through here guys. I know the basics. It one ohm final load. 0 gage runs. Proper ported custom box just for these subs. I was just wondering how they compare because I don't Se many people running them and I got them dirt cheap.
