personally it doesn't look TOO impressive...but thats just me

and just answer the mans questions.....takes more posts to tell him to search and then rag on him for not doing it well...just my 2 cents

but it's top of the line alpine so i wouldn't doubt great sq from this thing

Ive heard the R's they are alright. They were hooked to JL audio 1000/1 amp.

ive been thinking of upgrading to a set of X 12`s but $449 a piece or whatever they cost is alil pricey so im gonna wait a bit since my R`s are only 2 weeks old

I personally would try them. The surrounds resemble that of a CV Stroker, one of the loudest subs ever. And I don't think Alpine is going to screw it's image over on shitty subs.

just b/c the surround resembles the old Stroker, it doesn't mean that it'll have anything to do w/ the sound of the sub. The cone looks carbon fiber-ish. But I bet it's 100% for it's looks. This sub is just another one of Alpines ploys and I'm sure people will start selling their Type R's (since everyone on the internet seems to run them!) and "upgrade" to the new top of the line sub.

And then an educated person who spent half the money on his subs will come by and blow them out of the water in SQ and SPL.

Yes it is getting old seeing the same threads, but this is what the third-fouth one on the Type X? People have done countless theads on RE, Adire, ED and still people help them out and don't diss them. But since Alpine is a mainstream brand I guess that's why some people get mad on seeing threads on the Type X. Anyways Alpine had it in mind to go after the W7 with this sub. So the SQ on it should be amazing. I've talked to people that have actually heard it and they say it's way better then the Type R's, in SQ/SPL. The only thing is no one has really tried this sub. Wait a few months and see what people say about it. I've thought about trying it, but if I was to spend that much money I would just spend it on some W7... at least it's provef itself be a great sub, but not saying that the Type X won't do the same.

What's so wrong with that???? If you like a company, if you trust them, why wouldn't you upgrade?

The X cone is a carbon fiber, aluminum weave, very strong, and little flex. One will be in my car soon. The alpine line this year is going to suprise people. And the new Type S's do really well BTW. BIG improvement from last year.

i'd hope so....type s's imo haven't been worth much of anything

but i also agree w/ alpine on this one...best to wait and see what people who have HEARD it say....then we'll know for sure and there won't be anymore of this hype
