Alpine Type X and Gorilla SPL

Trying to wire these up to sound good. The amp is rated at 3000 watts, but what confuses me, is it doesn't say bridgeable on the amp I tried all combinations but I feel like it just isn't as loud as my 1000w crunch amp

The terminals on the amp are weird too.

(+)(+) (-)(-)

I tried the following and it is the same result same loudness

(+)()()(-)

()(+)(-)()

Also the Alpine x is rated @ 4ohm 3000w max, 1000w rms.

The amp is rated at the following

4 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan.

2 ohms: 1300 watts x 1 chan.

1 ohm: 1700 watts x 1 chan.

I don't want 2 or 1 ohm I want 4, because anything higher will be more watts than the sub is made for.

The Alpine Type x is dual voicecoil too. I don't know if I currently have it running a series, but I heard parallel is better. I have a jumper in the middle for series, for parrallel I need two

For example

[][|][] -> How I have it set up for series

[|][][|] -> How it should be set up for parallel

Also the subs terminals are set up like this

(vc1+) - (vc1-)

(vc2+) - (vc2-)

I currently have vc1+ connected to + on the amp and the vc2- connected to the - on the amp

so:

(+) (+)(-) (-)

| |

(vc1+) (vc2-)

assuming vc means voicecoil

I just want this thing to beat the **** out of my miata. I mean my old JL is sounding louder than this thing and it was running 1000w. Though it didn't vibrate the whole car like the X is.

Here's the user guide for the sub so you can see what I am trying to do here:

Wire each voice coil to the sub, since you have 2 positives and 2 negatives. That amp is already internally bridged, they add the second set of outputs to make it easier to connect multiple subs. you can always turn the gain really low to keep the amp from producing the 1700 watts. This is assuming the sub is dual 2ohm vc

O dear where do I start...
Sorry' date=' don't mean to be a bother. Total noob when it comes to two vcs. I been wiring subs to all my cars all my life, but this new technology kills me.

wire it to two ohms positive with positive negative with negative
The sub is four ohms, which the sub would be fine, and the amp would be at 2, but the problem with that is... the 2 ohms from the amp is 1300 watts! I know Type Xs take a beating, but pushing it 30% more would just throw away the $600 I spent on this heavy bad boy.

The sub is 4 ohms, but if I bridge it to 2, then make it run parallel, then the sub would be at 4 ohms the amp at 2, which would mean 1300w rms and the sub is 1000w rms max.

If I just turn the gain down, that lowers the rms?

The amp has a db adjuster too though, would I need to mess with it to lower the rms?

Built in bridge... technology has advanced. I still have an amp that is like 20 years old that still had those olllllld connections lol. That's pretty handy though I guess. I'm not much for instructions, but the instructions showed them bridging the ++ and --. So I tried that about an hour ago and now it seems like its getting more power since the lights on my miata dim like they did with the crunch amp. Only at 8ohms instead of the 4 or 2, I would imagine its putting out half that it would at 4, so like 450 rms.

For now I have it wired like this

(+)(+) (-)(-)

|---|---|--|

--|-------|

----|-----|

-----|---|

------SUB

Wired in a series, so it's again only at 8 ohms, but I feel like its hitting harder. Course when I wire it parallel it will hit wayyyy harder I guess, but I'm just worried about the 2 ohms, since it's 1300w rms.

the alpine type x can take 1300 rms all day every day......it will not blow it will no cause any issues

run the sub at 2ohms....it will be fine and as long as u keep ur gains on the amp set correctly and u dont have the bass boost on everything will be ok

if u dont want to take our advice then please dont post looking for it bro...not trying to be a dickk but had to say it

stats say 1300w rms. its a 3000w peak power. How do I set the gain set correctly? I don't think I have bass booster.

Also if it's 900 rms at 4 ohms, what is it at 8 ohms? half right?

If the sub you have is dual 4 It will be 8 ohm series 2 ohm parallel

If the sub is dual 2 It will be 4 ohm series 1 ohm parallel.

Either way you run it your amp most likely will not see the ohm load that its wired to because impedance rise so I would run it in parallel regardless. When it comes down to the little bit of wattage that you think is over powering you can always turn the gain down below matched rca voltage. Just for shits and giggles put a test tone on at like 45 hertz and turn you radio to the max volume you turn it too. Then take a digital multimeter with a amp clamp and measure the voltage coming of the speaker terminals on the amp. Then amp clamp the speaker wire on the same test tone multiply these number and see the exact wattage the gorilla spl puts out.

make it look like this (assuming you don't have the jumpers) then wire to amp. this will be 2 ohms. FWIW, mine sees 1.3k - 1.5k for multiple years now and no problems.
