Alpine Type x 10 keeps blowing.... Need Help Please!! PICS INCLUDED...!!!

Ok so rather than keep blowing shit up I sat down and talked with the shop and we decided to build another box identical to the one I already have but on the opposite side and run a second 10. I wanted to run 2 W7's but Im stuck due to impedence issues with my amp(W7's are 3ohm and SVC and my amp is only 2/4 stable). We decided to go with 2 MTX 9510's. They are only charging me the cost of the woofer and are building the second custom box for free since I have been having all of this trouble. Since I am running an Alpine PDX-M12 and the birth-sheet says it puts out 1408w @ 2 or 4 Ohms, we are running the 10's in parallel @ 2 ohms so it should be 704 watts per woofer which is right under their 750w rms rating... Hopefully this will solve all of my problems from here on out... Any Input is appreciated....

Il post some pics of everything when I pick up my truck tomorrow...

Actually they replaced 3 Alpine type X's for free... Then Gave me a 15 type R as a loaner sub for the weekend which ended up catching on fire from some bangin house music lol... and are giving me a free box out of the whole deal... Id say Im a happy customer!!! I cant wait to hear these two 9500's... I have heard so many good and bad reviews of them so Im really curious... the shop says they hit really hard and sound great... Guess Il find out tomorrow!!!

If you ask me, places that do stuff for free repeatedly are just covering their *****, and attempting to keep the customer from spreading bad reviews. They honestly sound like idiots to me. If they knew what they were doing they wouldn't have had to replace anything more than once, giving them the benefit of the doubt, that the first happened to be faulty. Hopefully, they'll at least get you set up with something this time that won't self destruct.

sheesh a shop does good things and still gets bashed. even installed correctly if the end user doesn't control his volume knob there's nothing an installer can do. it's already appearnt the OP wanted A LOUD system but what he originally paid for wasn't loud enough therefore the blowing of the sub. the volume knob turned all the way to the right or even mostly to the right is never a good thing. unless your like me and you plan your system ahead of time for ppl like that.

Obviously they know it's somewhat their fault or else they wouldn't have continued to perform free services. If they feel like it's the end user being "power hungry" they should turn the setting down........especially after the 3rd time to a level where it'd be near impossible to damage anything. Just looking at things from how I've experienced them......nobody does anything for "free" without feeling like it will serve their purposes, at least not businesses.

well w/o hearing the "shop's side" we won't know if the gains were ever touched or the sub out on the hu. it may just be the recordings played through the hu not all recordings are created equal.

just because you have a bad experience with a "business" does not make them all bad. if that was the case there would be no such thing as a business period. you can't just "profile" all business together it's as wrong as profileing ppl into the same catergory.

The Type-R caught on fire? That sounds thermal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The Type-X sounds mechanical.

Even if you're amp can only give 700rms per 9510, it can still blow them very easily if you send a clipped signal. Set the gain properly with a DMM, don't crank bass boost on amp or H/U and listen to it to its safe potential //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wasn't profiling any particular business. I was profiling business behavior. And don't you think if the shop had a side where they weren't guilty they would stop giving him free replacements, and tell him, look if you touch this it's not gonna be covered again?
