Alpine Type S

For starters alpine headunits **** it big. The 2 volts are a joke and to get to 4 you have to spend an arm and a leg. Then the 4 volts dont last for shi t. alpines better products are in other equipment. Such as the subs, highs, amps.

That type S was it an older style or the new one?

You're an idiot. But yes, alpine's 2005 line-up is mediocre.

Well, let me see if I can get my pics from my phone...I'll explain the torture testing procedure, though.

2 Type S's- which were 2005 display models- they were never used.

One was thrown in a prefab sealed box, 1 ft^3 sealed. Played with an MTX 300w mono amp (don't remember exact model #). Gain was kept at around 50%. Radio was Alpine 9815. Volume was turned to about 23-25 and sub started sounding like poppycock. That was it for the regular listening excercises.

Next, we took another one, wired it in series, plugged it into the wall. Maybe after 1 second, surround peeled off of basket. The glue used looked to be the cheapest glue ever created. Then, we took it's friend that had been used in the sealed box, and plugged her in. Cone ripped from former almost instantly.

I'm not saying jack about how loud they get as I didn't care about that, but after pulling it apart, build quality=teh suxorz

My scores tend to disagree with that statement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif At least when it comes to the type-rs.

Hrm, so accurate assumptions can be made by how the glue looks?

I still have these type S's: http://www.thecaraudiobox.com/eventpicsandvids/typeS1517.wmv And thats not the loudest I've had em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I've blown one... because I inverted it and it wasnt aligned improperly.

The 12's are good up to 1000w, how do I know? I tested it...

It doesnt last plugged into a wall, it must be a POS... that makes most any woofer on the market a POS...

As far as the listening tests.... ???

What assumptions did I make?

I said they are built shitty...which, in my personal experience, tends to tell me so.

I didn't say "they aren't loud" I said "they are built like shit"...which was observed by more then one person that was present.

I guess you skimmed over this part...

As far as listening, can't tell you much as a)wasn't in a car environment (on our test board), and b)was used for less then 2 minutes in a musical application.
