Alpine Type S or Kicker CompR

At first I was set on the Alpine SWS 10d4 in my 09 Explorer. Now I'm pretty set on one 12" and debating if I should go with a Kicker CompR from Best Buy or Apline Type S 12". I really like that the Kicker already comes with a box.

Alpine Type S is an underhung coil/motor design (SQ oriented design). The Kicker and Sundown and both standard overhung designs. With a properly designed box the Alpine will sound very clean.

My vote goes to the Alpine.

The woofer will only be as good as the enclosure. So no buying a box off the shelf.

I like it. It digs deep and plays higher better then the 8.

After tuning they pretty much sounded the same. After some break in the Q pulled ahead slightly. I kind of wish I would have waited and got the 2012 but the Q needing 1.8 cubes fits the install better for finishing the trim.

How about the type S type R from Alpine?
