alpine type r

they are actually rated 40w rms but i actually put 90watts a piece to my components and they handle it no problem i was running 70 to them for about 6 months and ive been running 90 for like a month now. im pretty happy with them though, tweets are sort of harsh sounding sometimes but they dont distort at high levels like other comps ive messed with around the price range(100-150 on ebay).

id run about 55-70 watts to them and dont crank ur gain man, u dont want to clip them.

Thanks, I have a kind of newb question that I am not quite familuar with. What is clipping? From my knowlage is that it is when a speaker/sub. is moving past it's max excursion, am I right? LMK, just curious.

Thanks everyone.

Update:

I got the Comps today and instaled them. And wow, did they sound darn good. And they wernt even amped. Very clear, good mid base and the tweets I think give a good high frequency. I curently have them as rear fill and a tade bit louder than the front(just the way I like it). I can't wait to get a 60w amp. for them. I might throw a 150w amp. to them and turn the gains way down just to test them out. I still can't believe how good these sound. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh my god, they sound so much better with an amp. I turned that 150w amp down to about 1/4 on the gain and the speakers were screaming. Now I need to get a set for the fronts and then amp all four corners. God would that be sweet.

The crazy thig is that powered by the HU, they almost sounded distorted in the high volumes but there is no distortion to be herd with them amped, even maxed out on the Volume. This is making me have ideas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryexcited.gif.c26a15f316d23068607f36ddacd7a7ab.gif .
