Ok two questions

What hits harder 1222d or 1242d?

And if I get the 1242d's I'm going to need a amp at least 1000 watts or more at 4

d2's= 4 ohm or 1 ohm. ohms don't make subs hit better.

That's a subjective question and full of variables. What amp are you running? What impedence are you trying to wire the subs to? How many subs?

They are the same sub. The different numbers in the model# are the impedences...which determine what amp you will need. Neither will hit harder or sound any different if you have the correct amp on them.

get the one thats 2ohms, its easier/cheaper to get a 2ohm amp to push it.

Not necessarily. I think you should pick out what amp you're going to get first because that will dictate which subs you need.

To the Op, ignore this post and do what ^ they say.

Changing the coil would change the speaker, if they go from a d2 to d4 coil the wire in the coil either needs to get longer or thinner, wouldn't that change the thermal power handling and mass of the cone assembly? I'm sure it wouldn't matter unless your on a meter trying to grab 0.01db, but I still am curious.
