Alpine type-r help

I need some help figuring out what exactly I will need to get my system up and running. I plan to run Two Alpine Type-R's and I have a few questions.

1. I plan on using a ported box, but I need to know what the best frequency would be and whether or not the vents being on the outside of each sub or between them matter.

2. If i purchase a box online can the frequency be changed after I receive it?

3. Would I want to get the 4-ohm versions and run them at 1-ohm? or is there a better way to go?

4. If anyone makes custom boxes let me know because I am looking to buy one

what size type Rs? if your getting two id go with dual 4s and run them at 1 ohm., of course depending on the amp. and ya depending on the size Rs will matter on the size of the box. but ya get someone on here to build you one. do not buy a prefab.

Placement of the ports won't make a noticeable difference to you. Do you have the amp you want to use already? Voice coil configurations gonna depend on how low your amp will work at. As far as freq, tune the enclosure to the recommended freq that is stated in the manual.

I will be running two 12" type-r's so i need a box built for those... alpine recommends between like 1.5 and 2.0 cubic feet per sub in a ported box... so I was thinking something like 3.4 cubic feet to hold them both tuned to like 33hz.... but if that wouldnt be the best let me know... I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff and I appreciate the advice

Those Type R Subs are some bad speakers. They can handle way more than just 500 watts. I would reccomend finding someone on here to buy a sundown 1500d. Get the dual 4 ohm configuration ahd run each terminal hot to hot on all four voice coils to a monoblock amp like the sundown and that would give you a 1 Ohm load at about 700 watts per sub. Also, a friend of mine has two 12s in a custom 4.2cu ft box at 32hz, and its REALLY LOUD. lol

A little bit bigger allows for more breathing room for the subs. This allows for more air flow resulting in more volume. You can go too big though. But the reccomendations are just that, just guidelines, an average of what they think is a good size for the speakers. If your gonna try and get an amp like i mentioned you're gonna need a bigger box bc the type rs have very good xmax. A little big bigger box than 4cu ft will let the subs breathe more with the extra 200watt goin to each sub. I have seen someone put about 1200 watts each to two of those subs...

general rule with SPL box building is the more power, the smaller the enclosure. This is one of the reasons they give a min and max for volume recommendations. If your giving them the 500-700 watts then you want it on the smaller side of the recommended size, larger for less power. Anyone thats serious about building loud systems should know this.

I would not listen to what that manual says AT ALL; their recommendations **** ***. For daily, I'd do about 2.25-2.5 cubes per sub tuned from 30-35 hz.
QFT

The R's sound like *** on any less than 2 cubes each ported, I would only go lower for pure SPL purposes.
