Alpine Type R Compound Reflex

Has anyone heard the Alpine Type R in the "compound reflex" box that they have for sale here: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13203

I want real good sq but also I want it to be able to get loud. I just wanted to know if this sub/box combo is worth getting or if it's just a crappy box. I know I could just buy a type R sub and have a box built, but I don't feel like going through that trouble cuz I have other projects I'm workin on.

I think its jsut a Bandpass box built by alpine with the Type Rs specs. It should probably sound pretty good.

ok.. and I forgot I had one more question. One of my friends just gave me his dad's system for his car. (2 8" sony xplod subs and a sony xplod amp.) I am not planning on using the subs at all being they're sonys, but I was wondering if I could hook up the amp to the Alpine Type R on the link on the first post. The sub said it was 4 ohms x 4 ohms. I know nothing about the amp except that it says on it: 1000W Sony Xplod 2/1 channel power amplifier... XM-2165GTX. If someone could help me out it would be great. Thanks a lot!

o ok.. thanks. Can you just explain to me why you wouldn't be able to hook it up to the 4x4 ohm sub? I just don't understand why.

oh so you're saying that the 4x4 ohm sub can still work with the amp but it will just give it less power right?
