I have a 12" DVC Alpine Type R hooked up with a JBL 600.1 amp, I wat to know if the sub can handle a 2 ohm load. Which I think is 600w, when the RMS for Type R is only 300w?
the sub doesnt handle the ohm load the amp does! And chance are if you have it wired to 4ohms with that type R dvc then you will not be able to wire to 2 ohms b/c you sub is dual 2 ohm so you could either wire to 1 ohm (which i would not reccomend as it would kill the amp eventually) or 4 ohms (which is what it should be at)> I think you meant to ask if the sub could handle the 600wrms....If so then yes it could handle it if done properly and you watch your gains on your amp! But unless you have a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub you cant take it to 2 ohms
u have a DVC 4 ohm or 2 ohm? the jbl will make 600 watts at 1 or 2 ohms. 600 watts is too much for a type R but it will work great for 2 type R's. i wouldnt send any more than 500 watts to a type R.
well u willl be able to wire the 1 type R to a 2 ohm load or an 8 ohm load. Are u planning on upgrading subs later? if so id get the 600.1 and keep the gain way low. if ur planning on just using this setup just get a 300.1
